Formula 1 Shakes Up the Calendar
Spa-Francorchamps, BelgiumWednesday, January 8, 2025
Spa-Francorchamps is one of the oldest and most beloved tracks. It's been around since Formula 1's first championship in 1950. Now, it's got a new contract until 2031. Formula 1's boss, Stefano Domenicali, said Spa is a big deal for drivers and fans. He thanked the promoters and Belgian government for their support.
Even though Spa won't host every year, the deal lets the track plan for future improvements. Pierre-Yves Jeholet, the vice president of the Walloon Government, is happy. He says the race brings lots of money and attention to the region.
What about the other years? Formula 1 hasn't decided yet. Zandvoort, a track in the Netherlands, might have been an option, but it's ending its event after 2026.
