The former President of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, found himself in a surprising situation. He was arrested at Manila's international airport after returning from Hong Kong. The reason? The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued a warrant for his arrest. They accused him of crimes against humanity during his brutal "war on drugs. " This campaign, which took place during his presidency from 2016 to 2022, resulted in the deaths of thousands of people. Many of these victims were small-time drug dealers and users who were killed without any trial. Duterte, now 79, was taken into custody and quickly put on a chartered flight to The Hague, Netherlands, where the ICC is located.
