USAMonday, February 17, 2025
The severe weather extended to the Midwest and Northeast. Snow and ice made roads treacherous in Michigan, with 114 crashes reported around Detroit. In Colorado, eight people died in vehicle crashes, with authorities warning drivers to be cautious. Avalanche warnings were also issued for the Rocky Mountains, with the highest danger in Utah.
The eastern seaboard faced power outages, stretching from New York to Georgia. In West Virginia, 13 southern counties were under a state of emergency due to flooding. Volunteer fire departments had to deal with flooding in their own buildings while responding to rescue calls.
The weather was a reminder of the power of nature. It's important to stay informed and follow safety guidelines during extreme weather events. Stay off the roads when advised, and be prepared for power outages and other disruptions.
