Funding Boost: A Lifeline for Sexual Violence Survivors
South Carolina, Columbia, USAMonday, September 23, 2024
Rebecca Lorick, the executive director of Pathways to Healing, is well aware of the importance of these services. As a survivor of sexual assault and domestic violence herself, she knows firsthand the transformative power of support and guidance. "I wouldn't be where I am today without services like those we provide at Pathways," she said.
Pathways to Healing's services are not limited to direct support for survivors. The organization also reaches out to schools and communities to educate children about healthy boundaries and relationships. Lorick estimates that in 95% of these sessions, someone will come forward to disclose their own experiences with sexual abuse. This stark reality underscores the need for awareness and understanding.
The funding boost will enable Pathways to Healing to continue its vital work, helping survivors heal and rebuild their lives. As Lorick emphasized, "This funding will help us serve more people, and we're grateful for the support."
