Gavin Newsom's Playful Jabs at Trump in Davos
Gavin Newsom, the governor of California, used a recent event in Davos to make a lighthearted joke about Donald Trump. He held up what he called "Trump signature series kneepads," which made the crowd laugh. But then he got serious.
"I was trying to show how silly some of Trump's actions are."
Newsom talked about how Trump and his team have been saying mean things about him. He even mentioned a comment from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who compared him to a character from a movie. But Newsom didn't back down.
"I'm doing this to show strength and not let Trump walk all over me."
Newsom admitted that Trump is good at finding weak points. But he said he was ready to fight back.
"Trump and his team are trying to take me down, not just my state."
Drama Before the Event
Newsom's team said he was not allowed to speak to the media at Davos because of pressure from the White House. But the White House said no one even knew who Newsom was.
This all happened while there was a lot of back-and-forth on social media between Newsom's team and Trump's allies.
