Gaza Residents Stick to Their Land

Gaza refuses to be a trophy to Trump's designs. People just want to rebuilt their lives where they are. People in Gaza are saying they are not going anywhere. The Americans think Gaza is a big piece of real estate. They do not understand the connection with the land. A professor in Gaza, Abo Kareem, was homeless and hungry. He still refused to leave. He refused anyway. He has built his life in Gaza. Not going to start again. Trump just said he wants to make Gaza a beautiful resort. There are people who are living in tents with no homes to return to. They’ll be earning money and will be building homes. They’re going to be safe. They’ll be happy. Everywhere else is just too scary.

But the people of Gaza are not buying it. Palestinians believe they have a right to return and live there. The Palestinians were not going to let anyone decide for them. Trump’s promises are empty, they say. They believe he’s not one to rebuild Gaza for Gaza. Now it is the perfect time to rebuild the house. The home is where Afaf Ahmed wanted to raise her family. Trump does not have the power over the people of Gaza.
