Gender guidelines are taken off Staff! Trump makes big changes

A huge change in gender guidelines is sweeping across Federal websites following a recent executive order. The Trump Administration has ordered that federal websites strip out all mentions of the word gender from federal websites. It has been chaotic for many health officials. Parts of many CDC webpages were taken down to be rewritten in line with this order. Doctors in every community relied on having these treatment guidelines to know what tests to run, what antibiotics will work on infections, and how to avoid worsening antibiotic resistance. This means diseases could go untreated which could cause real problems, especially with conditions like congenital syphilis where there is no time to waste. The data on mental health, substance abuse, and violence affecting LGBT high school students has been removed from the CDC's Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System. The CDC's adult immunization guidance which referenced transgender and nonbinary people as part of carefully crafted recommendations has been wiped too. This ban also extended to other health organizations.

The Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion has deleted data tracking progress to meet federal goals like reducing bullying of transgender students and curbing illegal drug use among gay high school students. The Food and Drug Administration has also had to rewrite or remove guidance that mentions gender. The administration sent an order to government health agancies as well. They told nonprofits and state and local health departments using federal funds to comply with the new rules banning gender from all their activities. Such as pronouns and gender from their websites and from email signatures. Even hospitals are expected to comply and make changes. Many hospitals are now pausing medications and procedures for youth seeking gender-affirming care. Even the webpages for federal civil rights guidance on gender-affirming care for youth have been taken down. The government decided all of these changes are so important they would have to be done before 5pm. Some agencies willingly removed their gender related web pages and did not mind the rewrite. The remaining pages had to be reworked to strip out all mentions of the term. However most agencies refused
