Genetic Testing in Brazil: Why People Do It and What Happens Afterward
BrazilWednesday, November 27, 2024
Interestingly, only about one in five people actually talked to a doctor about their test results. Most folks felt they could understand the results on their own. And, this wasn't just due to luck; people who worked in health or biological sciences felt even more confident.
After getting their results, many people had mixed feelings. Most were glad, but a small group felt worried, especially about their health. This led a lot of people to make some changes in their lives. Over 38% changed their diet, while around 24% started going for regular check-ups. Almost 17% also increased their physical activity. In total, more than 64% of people made some changes based on what they found out.
This shows that genetic testing can have a real impact on people's lives, both in terms of their health and how they feel about it. But, it's important to remember that while most people felt good, some also had worries.
