Gmail Users: Your Chance to Ditch That Embarrassing Email Address!
Google is finally letting users switch up their Gmail addresses. This is big news for anyone stuck with a childhood email that no longer fits their vibe.
The tech giant has quietly updated its help pages, revealing a new feature that allows users to change their @gmail.com addresses. This change was first noticed by users in a Google Pixel Hub Telegram group, who spotted the updates on the Hindi version of the help page.
The feature is rolling out slowly, so not everyone can use it yet. But if you're lucky enough to have access, you can change your email address without losing any of your data. That means all your photos, messages, and other account info will stay safe.
There's a catch, though. Once you change your email, you can't create a new Gmail address for the same account for a whole year. So, choose wisely!
If you want to see if you can change your email, head to myaccount.google.com/google-account-email. From there, click on "Personal information," then "Email," and finally "Google Account email address." If you're eligible, you should see a button that says "Change Google Account email."
This update is a game-changer for anyone who's been holding onto an old email address out of fear of losing their data. It's also a great opportunity to give your online persona a fresh start.
But why did it take Google so long to offer this feature? And why is the English version of the help page still behind? Only time will tell.
