  • He will also retain his role as head of semiconductor coverage, a critical area due to the global focus on manufacturing and supply chains.

New Sector: Global Internet and Media

A new sector, Global Internet and Media, has been created and will be co-led by:

  • Brandon Watkins (Partner since 2022, joined in 2010)
  • Alekhya Uppalapati (Managing Director, joined in 2009)

Why the Changes?

The bank confirmed these changes in an internal memo, highlighting how technology and media are evolving. Deals are now more focused on:

  • Digital infrastructure (e.g., data centers, core tech)
  • Big internet platforms

Goldman Sachs aims to stay ahead in these fast-growing areas to better serve clients. According to Jung Min and Barry O’Brien, the global co-heads of the bank's TMT group, these changes are designed to help clients achieve their goals more effectively.
