Goodbye Lunchables: Schools Say No Thanks

Kraft Heinz's popular Lunchables snacks are taking a break from school cafeterias. The company announced that due to low demand, Lunchables won't be part of the National School Lunch Program this year. Last year, they introduced two new options with more protein, exciting school administrators. However, sales didn't meet their targets.

Consumer Reports recently highlighted the high sodium levels in Lunchables, sparking concerns about their safety for students. This comes after the Department of Agriculture updated school lunch standards to limit sugars and promote whole grains. Kraft Heinz isn't too worried, though. The school sales were less than 1% of total Lunchables sales, so it's not a big hit to their business. They might bring Lunchables back to schools in the future if demand picks up.
