Google's Files app is getting a boost with new features that make working with PDFs and code much easier. One exciting addition is the integration with Gemini's "Ask about this PDF" function. This allows users to quickly find answers in PDF files without scrolling through multiple pages. To use it, simply say "Hey Google" or press and hold the power button, then tap "Ask about this PDF" and ask your question. However, this feature will only be available to those with a Gemini Advanced subscription and using Android 15 or later. Besides PDF assistance, Gemini Advanced users can now upload entire code repositories. This is an expansion of the previous feature that allowed uploading code files. Now, you can upload up to 1, 000 files in one folder, with a maximum folder size of 100MB. This helps Gemini understand the full context of your project, providing comprehensive code assistance. Files by Google is also making it simpler to receive files through Quick Share and move them to the Safe Folder from the Recents section without opening them. The latest update includes a "Move to Safe folder" option in the overflow menu for the Recents carousel.
