Google has been tweaking the emoji on Pixel phones. This happened with the Android 16 QPR3 beta update. The changes are not huge. But they do make the emoji look more like those on iPhones.

Notable Changes

  • Face Exhaling: Now has a different angle.
  • Loudly Crying Face: Has a smaller mouth.
  • Cold Face: Lost its snow on top.

These changes make them look more like Apple's emoji.

Previous Updates

This is not the first time Google has updated its emoji. They did it before with Unicode 17.0 additions. But this time, they are making their emoji look more like Apple's. This might be because many people are used to Apple's emoji style.

Other Changes

  • Melting Face
  • Raccoon
  • Flashlight
  • Bacon (got an extra strip to match Apple's look)

Missing Emoji

But not all new emoji are here yet. The new Unicode 17.0 emoji like:

  • Distorted Face
  • Orca
  • Trombone

are not usable yet. You can see them in a browser, but you can't use them on your phone.

Update Details

This update is part of the Android 16 QPR3 beta. It's not in the stable version yet. So, if you have a Pixel 10 Pro XL running the beta, you will see these changes. But if you have a Pixel 10 on the stable version, you won't.
