Grammy Night 2025 Shocks and Surprises

Los Angeles took centre stage for the 2025 Grammy night, a celebration that brought a mix of predicted wins and unexpected twists. The biggest prize, Album of the Year, went to Beyoncé for "Cowboy Carter, " marking her 99th career nomination. This win seemed predictable but was still thrilling. The 2025 Grammys also saw some overdue recognition for established artists. Kendrick Lamar was another night standout, sweeping all five of his nominations for "Not Like Us, " including Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Lamar's performance was a highlight of the night, but it was a bit tense due to an ongoing legal situation. Lamar's label is facing legal action from Drake over a song performance during the night. Tense moments aside, Lamar's performance was electrifying.

Charli XCX also had a night to remember. She received three wins for her hit album "Brat" and its hit songs. Charli XCX went home with three wins, for Best Dance/Electronic Album, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best New Artist. Chappell Roan won for Best New Artist. Chappell Roan won an important award. Chappell Roan won the Best New Artist, beating out Sabrina Carpenter, and Shaboozey. However, Sabrina Carpenter also walked away with two wins. Carpenter won for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance for her album Short n’ Sweet. The Weeknd marked his return to the Grammys stage after stopping for 2 years. Album of the Year winner, Beyoncé, went home with 2 wins, Album of the Year for Cowboy Carter and Best R&B Album. However, there were some notable absences from the winners' list. Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift both left empty handed. Post Malone lost out on his 8 nominations. Even though some artists left happy and others disappointed, the show certainly didn't lack excitement.
