Habitat for Humanity's Ex-Finance Director Pleads Guilty to COVID Fund Misuse

The former Finance Director of Habitat for Humanity in Central South Carolina, Ashley Clark Ingram, has admitted to embezzling over $388,000 meant for COVID-19 relief. This misappropriation of funds was discovered through an internal investigation conducted by the organization after she left her post. William Jeter, the treasurer and president-elect of Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors, released a statement confirming that Ingram's actions were intentional. The organization has also stated that they expect to recover all the misused funds soon.

Ingram previously worked as the Finance and Operations Director at ACLU of South Carolina, but she is no longer employed there. She had also served as the accounting manager at Cactus Family Farms in Orangeburg. As part of her plea agreement, Ingram has agreed to hand over all assets acquired with the COVID-19 relief funds. Her court appearance for bond and a plea hearing is scheduled at the federal courthouse in Columbia before Judge Mary Geiger Lewis.
