Halloween Fun on Prospect: A Safe Trick-or-Treating Event

You know those old movies where trick-or-treating is dangerous? Well, the Prospect Business Association wanted to change that in real life. They organized a special event called Trunk or Treat, right next to Linwood Sun Fresh Market. This wasn't just about candy; it was about showing everyone that the neighborhood is safe and fun. The idea was to bring families together and make sure the only scary things were the costumes. There were ghosts, princesses, and even angels walking around. But no real-life bad guys spoiling the fun. Pat Clarke, the president of the Oak Park Neighborhood Association, said that events like these help keep the bad stuff away.

Mayor Quinton Lucas, the City Council, and other community leaders have been working hard to make the Prospect area safer. They want people to feel comfortable coming here to shop and enjoy events. Don Maxwell, the founder of the Prospect Business Association, said that events like Trunk or Treat help people feel safe. Over 800 businesses from Prospect Avenue joined in, passing out candy. Even the police were there to make sure everything was safe. State Senator Barbara Anne Washington said that this event is great because it gives families a chance to have a fun and safe Halloween experience.
