Heartbreak in Bohodukhiv: A Drone Strike Leaves a Family Devastated
Tragedy in Bohodukhiv: A Drone Strike Claims Lives of Three Children
In the quiet town of Bohodukhiv, roughly 60 kilometres west of Kharkiv, a devastating incident unfolded when a Russian drone struck a house that had become temporary shelter for a Ukrainian family. The attack claimed the lives of:
- Two one‑year‑old boys
- One two‑year‑old girl
- Their 34‑year‑old father
The mother, who was 35 weeks pregnant, and the grandmother sustained serious injuries; both are currently fighting for their lives in hospital.
The family had fled their eastern home only a few days earlier, hoping to find safety. Their new shelter was destroyed in the strike and a subsequent fire, leaving no survivors among the children and their father. The mayor of Bohodukhiv described the incident as a “crime that is beyond human comprehension,” mourning the loss of what he called “our future.”
Ukrainian officials have condemned the attack, linking it to Russia’s disregard for diplomatic efforts toward peace. President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that each such strike erodes confidence in ongoing negotiations and highlights the ongoing peril faced by civilians.
