Help Needed: Supporting Crime Victims in Wisconsin

In the small town of La Crosse, Wisconsin, Gundersen Health System is on the lookout for dedicated volunteers to join their Crime Victim Services team. She points out that a good volunteer can make a significant difference by supporting victims even after they leave the emergency department. This includes helping them navigate the legal system, something that nurses and doctors might not be able to do. The need for volunteers isn't limited to La Crosse alone. Stephanie mentions that the Eau Claire area also has similar volunteer opportunities. The Family Support Center, for instance, is always looking for more advocates to help victims. Gundersen has specific requirements for volunteers. They need to complete forty hours of training, commit to at least two shifts a month, and sign up for a year-long volunteering period. This ensures that volunteers are well-equipped to handle the sensitive nature of their role.
