High-Profile Financier Accused of Exploiting Women
A wealthy former Wall Street trader is in serious trouble.
Howard Rubin, once a prominent figure in finance, now faces grave allegations. He and his former assistant are accused of operating a sex trafficking operation for years.
The Charges
The charges allege that Rubin paid women to meet him in luxury hotels and a specialized apartment. This apartment was described as a "sex dungeon" equipped with unusual devices, some capable of delivering electric shocks. The women claim Rubin inflicted severe injuries, leading to hospital visits.
Financial Expenditure
Rubin and his assistant reportedly spent over $1 million to sustain the operation. The assistant is accused of recruiting women and handling complaints.
Past Legal Issues
This is not Rubin's first encounter with the law. In 2022, he was convicted of sex trafficking and ordered to pay nearly $4 million to six women. Additionally, Rubin made headlines in 1987 for causing a massive financial loss at Merrill Lynch.
Assistant's Legal Troubles
The assistant, Jennifer Powers, is also facing charges for aiding Rubin and lying to a bank. She is expected to appear in court soon.
Victim Testimonies
The women involved claim Rubin forced them to sign confidential agreements, holding them accountable for any injuries sustained. These agreements were allegedly used to intimidate the women if they attempted to resist or report the abuse.
