High School Sports Highlights: Tennis Wins and Soccer Showdowns

Alex Thomas of Notre Dame Academy clinched the Division 1 state tennis title, beating Colin Meixl and Alexander Bo in straight sets. His flawless record of 21‑0 leads into the team tournament, a boost after finishing third last year. In Division 1 doubles, Brookfield East’s Jake Zheng and Ryker Koch took the crown. Meanwhile, Xavier’s Kojo Norman fell in the semifinals but later lost a third‑place match. East Troy’s Teddy Busateri captured the Division 2 singles title, topping Oliver Milleman. The girls’ soccer scene was buzzing. Kimberly’s Papermakers topped Bay Port 2‑0, earning a spot in the sectional semifinal where they’ll face Appleton North. Appleton North edged De Pere 2‑2 in a shootout, moving on to the same semifinal.
Brookfield Central shut out Appleton West 7‑0 in Division 2, advancing to host Plymouth. Pulaski beat Ashwaubenon 3‑1 and will meet Cedarburg next. Division 3 saw Luxemburg‑Casco beat Freedom 2‑0, and Notre Dame routed Fox Valley Lutheran 9‑0. Both teams will play in June’s sectional semis, with Notre Dame hosting Winneconne. In Division 4, Xavier dominated Wrightstown 6‑2 and will face Lourdes Academy/Valley Christian at home. Lourdes, after a win over Sturgeon Bay, also heads to the semifinal in Appleton. The season’s early finishers include Providence Academy/NEW Lutheran, who beat Amherst 6‑0 and will travel to Howards Grove for their next match.
