Holiday Weekend Movie Bonanza: 'Moana 2' Leads the Way!
USAWednesday, November 27, 2024
The last time the holiday weekend brought in over $200 million was in 2019. Before that, it was in 2018 with films like 'Ralph Breaks the Internet' and 'Creed II'. This year's lineup could match or even beat those records.
Thanksgiving is a big deal for movie theaters. It sets the pace for the end-of-year box office rush. A strong finish means good things for the industry's annual revenue. Disney, in particular, could use a win. Their recent animated releases haven't lived up to expectations. 'Moana 2' is their chance to bounce back.
Remember 'Moana' from 2016? It made $82. 1 million over Thanksgiving. 'Coco' and 'Ralph Breaks the Internet' also did well. But 'Strange World' and 'Wish' didn't fare so great. Disney is hoping 'Moana 2' will change their luck. It's coming off the heels of 'Inside Out 2', which was a massive hit this summer.
