One notable example is Gus Lira, who owned a Malibu condo but chose Nevada after realizing California’s taxes were eating too much of his income. “You can’t get ahead when you get $100 and they take $60, ” he explained in an interview.

Other stars have moved for personal or professional reasons. Kelly Clarkson left Los Angeles for New York City after her divorce in 2022, seeking a fresh start. In 2024, Sylvester Stallone announced he and his family were “permanently” relocating to South Florida, citing Hollywood’s hectic pace as a factor. Some celebrities keep their motives private, simply stating they want a new beginning. These moves reflect a broader pattern of wealthier individuals seeking places where their money has more buying power and the lifestyle feels less stressful.
