Hollywood's Home Team: New Group Fights to Keep Productions in California
California, USAThursday, December 19, 2024
Governor Gavin Newsom is planning to double California's film tax incentives to $750 million a year. This means producers get more money back if they film here. The Coalition is pushing for this, saying it will help the industry grow and create more jobs.
Things have been tough though. Global production is down, and LA is feeling it too. The permitting office, FilmLA, said the third quarter of 2024 was the weakest. Reality TV is especially hurting, with a big drop in shoots.
The Coalition wants to make sure California stays competitive. They say people in the state support giving tax credits to more types of shows, like game and reality TV. They want California to stay the hub of entertainment. After all, it's the birthplace of Hollywood!
