Recently, a fire broke out at one of the main hospitals in northern Gaza, forcing medical staff and patients to leave their posts. Israeli forces raided the Kamal Adwan hospital, following a strike that killed five staff members the day before. The hospital's director, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, reported that Israeli troops threatened him with arrest and ordered the evacuation of both staff and patients, including critically ill ones who depend on oxygen. Abu Safiya shared on Instagram that the hospital's operating departments were burning while staff were still inside. He mentioned that many medical staff were injured and that the hospital building and equipment sustained significant damage. A staff member's voice message revealed that patients were being forcibly moved to the Indonesian hospital, with some at risk of dying due to the lack of oxygen. Unverified video footage showed men in their underwear walking past Israeli troops near the hospital. This incident took place amidst increased attacks on the hospital and the surrounding area, as part of a broader Israeli military operation in the Jabaliya refugee camp since October. Israel's military acknowledged investigating the claim of five medical staff being killed but disputed the overall casualty numbers. They stated that the hospital served as a Hamas stronghold and that they had taken steps to minimize harm to civilians.
