Survey Highlights Concerns in Quad Countries

In a recent poll, a significant portion of people in Australia, Japan, and India believe that U.S. President Donald Trump's second term has not been beneficial for their countries. The survey, which included 1,000 participants from each Quad country—Australia, Japan, India, and the U.S.—revealed the following:

  • 56% of Australians
  • 54% of Indians
  • 59% of Japanese

Declining Trust in U.S. Alliances

The poll also indicated a sharp decline in confidence regarding the U.S. alliance's role in national security:

  • Only 42% of Australians now believe the U.S. alliance makes their country safer, a significant drop from previous years.
  • In Japan, the number of people who feel secure due to the U.S. alliance has also fallen to 47%.

Concerns Over Political Violence and Misinformation

Many respondents expressed worries about political violence and misinformation in the U.S. Additionally:

  • A notable number of people in Australia and India view the U.S. as more harmful than helpful in Asia.
  • Despite these concerns, support for maintaining alliances with the U.S. remains strong.

Negative Perceptions of China

The survey also highlighted persistent negative views toward China across the Quad countries:

  • Many respondents in Australia, the U.S., Japan, and India see China as harmful rather than helpful in Asia.
  • 59% of Japanese respondents believe their country's handling of China is too weak.

AUKUS Partnership: Support but Lack of Clarity

  • While there is support for the partnership, only 27% of Australians believe their government has adequately explained the necessity of these submarines.
