How T-Mobile is Helping L. A. Wildfire Victims

In the aftermath of California's wildfires, T-Mobile has stepped up to lend a helping hand. Their store on 1318 Huntington Dr. , South Pasadena, CA 91030, is now a hub for free Wi-Fi and round-the-clock device charging. You don't need to be a T-Mobile customer to use these services. The company is also teaming up with the American Red Cross to bring Wi-Fi and charging to shelters. Last week, they set up shop at the Pasadena Civic Center and Malibu Equestrian Center.

To restore wireless service in Southern California, T-Mobile is deploying a 100-person crew. They're using advanced tech like Satellite Cell on Light Trucks (SatCOLTs) and Satellite Cell on Wheels (SatCOWs) to bring service back. These mobile cell sites are parked in Pacific Palisades and Altadena. They're also using "Very Small Aperture Terminals" (VSATs) and microwave solutions for temporary wireless service. Portable power generators keep these sites running. Plus, T-Mobile is installing generators and batteries at cell sites, data centers, and switching centers for long-term support.
