Instead of a typical field trip, students from Fulton Middle School in Fountain Valley visited the North American headquarters of Hyundai. The goal? To inspire them about careers in the automotive industry. Brandon Ramirez, a long-time Hyundai employee, organized the event. He wanted to show students what goes into planning vehicles at Hyundai and Genesis.
First, they got a behind-the-scenes look at how cars are designed. Then, the students built their own miniature cars using recycled materials—something Hyundai calls upcycling. Science teacher Amy Peterson from Fulton Middle School was there. She believes hands-on activities help students learn best.
Outside, they checked out an electric Genesis GV60 with product planner Bryson Cain. He showed them cool features like remote parking and facial recognition for unlocking the car. Unlike most field trips, these students could touch and explore everything! This was a chance for the 13- and 14-year-olds to see what it takes to design a modern vehicle and maybe inspire them to create their own someday.
