Tom Stevens, faced with a tough choice after his mom's dementia diagnosis, found a unique solution. He took away her dog, but this time, he came up with something new – Jennie, the robot dog. Unlike typical robot dogs, Jennie looks incredibly real, thanks to the design team from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. She's equipped with sensors that respond to pets and belly rubs, letting out adorable barks and wagging her tail. Studies suggest that interacting with animals can reduce stress and even help with dementia symptoms. Tom's company, TomBot, has been testing Jennie for years, planning to finally release a consumer version this year at about $1, 500. Stevens envisions Jennie evolving beyond a lap dog, potentially tracking seniors and going for walks. While Boston Dynamics' robots are impressive, Jennie offers a much cuter alternative in the world of robotic pets.
