Indiana Lawmakers Tackle Mental Health, Education, and Constitution Amendments
Northwest Indiana, USAFriday, January 17, 2025
On the mental health front, several lawmakers are advocating for better treatment and support for first responders. Rep. Carolyn Jackson has filed a bill to create a mental health wellness fund for these essential workers. Meanwhile, Rep. Hal Slager is tackling Medicaid funding, with a proposal to set work requirements for those receiving Medicaid.
A significant constitutional change is also on the table. A resolution, backed by Rep. Aylesworth, could allow city or town judges to live in bordering counties, helping smaller communities attract more judges.
