International Court Arrests: What Does This Mean for the US?

Imagine this: an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court for Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This isn't just a big deal in Israel, but it also raises some questions here in the United States. The court thinks Israel might have done something wrong in the Gaza Strip, like using weapons to hurt civilians. But whose weapons are we talking about? And who helped Israel at the United Nations? That's right, the U. S. President Joe Biden said in May that the court's request for warrants was wrong. He said Israel and Hamas aren't the same. But every child deserves protection, whether they're American, Israeli, or Palestinian. We can't act like some children's lives are more important than others.

People who help in conflicts often agree that Israel uses food as a weapon. When we hear about Hamas's awful attacks, it's easy to wonder why Israel can't do the same. But that's not how it works. Americans should think about how we're also not as popular as we used to be. This week, the United Nations wanted a stop to the fighting in Gaza, but the U. S. said no. When our weapons might be used in war crimes, maybe it's time to think about what we're doing.
