In a stark reminder of the dangers faced by journalists in war zones, three media professionals were killed in an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon. The attack occurred at a guesthouse known to be housing numerous journalists, including those linked to Iran and Hezbollah. Lebanon's Prime Minister Najib Mikati labeled the strike a deliberate "war crime" by Israel. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) later confirmed they were investigating the incident. Meanwhile, the conflict in Gaza escalated further. Israeli troops stormed the last operational hospital in the northern part of the strip, the Kamal Adwan Hospital, following attacks that killed at least 38 people, including 14 children, in Khan Younis. The IDF claimed they had intelligence on terrorists in the area and had evacuated thousands of civilians before the operation. The ongoing fighting in both Lebanon and Gaza has drawn international attention. U. S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited the region, emphasizing the importance of a peace agreement and reducing civilian suffering. Blinken also highlighted the need for a diplomatic resolution to the Israel-Hezbollah conflict, based on existing U. N. resolutions.
