Israel Warns It Might Hit Lebanese Ambulances in Ongoing Clash
Israel, USASaturday, March 14, 2026
Last week, Israeli planes dropped flyers over Beirut warning that Lebanon could face damage similar to Gaza’s devastation during Israel’s two‑year war with Hamas. In that war, hospitals were also attacked by Israel, claiming militants used them. Some tunnels were found under Gaza’s medical centers.
International law protects civilian sites, including hospitals, unless they are used for military purposes. However, if a site is used by fighters, it can lose its protected status.
Israel also bombed a bridge in southern Lebanon that it said was used by Hezbollah. The Defence Minister hinted at striking other infrastructure tied to the group.
More troops have been sent to Israel’s northern border with Lebanon, and officials say a longer campaign is likely. A senior Israeli officer told reporters that attacks on civilian infrastructure are being discussed, and the fight against Hezbollah may continue even after tensions with Iran ease.
Hezbollah’s leader Naim Qassem said his group is ready for a prolonged confrontation.
