Israeli Conflicts: Biden's Blunt Message to Netanyahu
Saturday, October 5, 2024
Biden mentioned that there were no decisions yet on how to respond to Iran. Some talk about striking their oilfields, but Biden thinks other options might be better. He also denied wanting an immediate meeting with Netanyahu to discuss this. Instead, he said they'll talk once Israel decides its response.
Netanyahu has been resisting Biden’s efforts, and Biden hasn’t stopped arms delivery to Israel. Though he's worried about a full-scale war, he still supports U.S. arms transfers to Israel while urging caution on civilian casualties. The U.S. military has also increased its presence in the region to protect Israel from attacks.
Vice President Kamala Harris shares Biden’s stance on arms sales but is more vocal about demanding an immediate ceasefire and criticizing civilian deaths in Gaza.
