Jim Parsons' Old Sci-Fi Comedy Becomes Streaming Hit
Sunday, November 24, 2024
In Home, Parsons plays a funny alien named Oh who tries to invade Earth but ends up becoming friends with a teenage girl, Tip. The movie didn't get great reviews, but audiences liked it. It made $386 million, which is quite impressive given its budget of $135 million. Recently, Home climbed the charts on Peacock, reaching the fifth spot. It's the oldest movie in the top five, beating out newer releases like Twisters and Despicable Me 4.
While this streaming success might not lead to a sequel, it could bring back the spin-off series Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh. This animated series aired on Netflix but was removed in April 2024. If Home continues to do well on Peacock, the platform might add the series to its library.
