Imagine this: two brilliant musicians, Jon Hopkins and Ólafur Arnalds, team up with NASA to create a song. This isn't just any song; it's going to the moon! The tune, named "Forever Held, " is part of NASA's new art installation, Space for Earth, which opens to the public in Washington, D. C.
The song is inspired by "love letters from Earth to space, " written by NASA's creative director, Erica Bernhard. She says Hopkins' music captures the vastness of space while keeping us connected to Earth. The song even got a mention in Coldplay's "Moon Music. "
Hopkins said he wanted to create something timeless, a feeling of being "held" by Earth. He thought about the power and fragility of our planet and our role in its future. Bernhard added that Hopkins' music bridges the gap between Earth and space, making us think about our place in the universe.
This isn't Hopkins' first rodeo this year. He released his latest album, Ritual, and even worked with Charli XCX. Plus, he's got a big show coming up in December with Aaron and Bryce Dessner from The National.
