Kevin Durant: Dealing With The Spotlight
PHOENIX, USATuesday, February 11, 2025
The Suns were reportedly fielding calls on Durant with his knowledge but didn't intend to trade him. That escalated to a three-team trade involving Jimmy Butler going to Phoenix being close on Tuesday to that deal dying on Wednesday because of Durant's disinterest in returning to the Warriors, which was a rapid 72-hour news cycle.
Durant has also commented on the report that there is a toxic vibe in the locker room. He correctly points out that it's not the type of place where you'll get a great read of the situation. He believes that it's unfair and lazy to categorize the team as toxic when you only come in there for five minutes throughout four months. He also believes that there is zero indication that this is the type of situation where a falling out has occurred that would affect the rest of the season.
Durant understands that this is the nature of the beast. He believes that people will make stuff up and create narratives and be biased and not use context. He also believes that life isn't fair and the game isn't fair. He has made a decision to be in this life and he is going to make the best of it.
