Kids Build, Test, and Shine at Summer STEAM Camp
Every week, young learners pledge to think boldly and share ideas.
They sign a promise that says they will use imagination, try new things, spot problems, push limits, value their thoughts, and feel trusted.
The camp runs in a multipurpose room and several classrooms at Ladera Ranch Middle School, but it also visits other local schools.
The goal is simple: ignite curiosity and let kids solve puzzles that mix science, tech, engineering, art, and teamwork.
Bright Challenge: “Let’s Glow”
Students build glowing boxes that show how light can travel through dark rooms.
They paint and decorate with gold foil and blue paint, then watch the light dance.
A seven‑year‑old named Fenn shares that this project is his favorite and he can take the box home.
Mini‑Scientists & Eco‑Designers
- Operation: Hydrodrop – create small labs that can test water samples and help design tiny houses that use clean energy.
- In the Game – a sports‑loving group learns about ball physics and builds their own pinball machines from cardboard, plastic cups, and popsicle sticks.
All teachers are regular school staff who love hands‑on learning. They guide children through each experiment, encouraging curiosity and teamwork.
The camp’s variety shows that even young minds can invent, test, and improve the world around them.
