Kids Learn to Swim and Teens Build Leadership in Kissimmee

Kissimmee, FL, USASunday, April 26, 2026
Kissimmee’s community center is opening doors for new swim lessons that start next month. Families can sign up in person on April 11 between 9 and 11 a. m. The first group class runs from late April to early May, followed by a second session in mid‑May. Each 30‑minute lesson costs $60 and is held Monday through Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 7:45 p. m. Parents are encouraged to enroll their children as early as six months old so they’re ready for summer water fun. High school students in grades nine through twelve have a chance to join the Counselor‑in‑Training program. The summer schedule runs from early June until late July, with workdays Monday through Friday. Applicants must attend a training session and a parent meeting on May 13 at the Oak Street Park Community Center. Those who finish seven of eight weeks may get a partial refund on the $25 fee. Applications close on April 10, and candidates need two references plus an interview held between April 20 and 23. Spots are limited, so interested teens should act quickly.
The city’s summer camps are also accepting registrations. Camp Discovery serves kindergarten through fifth grade, while Teen Extreme targets sixth to eighth graders. Both camps operate Monday through Friday from 7:15 a. m. to 6 p. m. , offering field trips, daily access to the Aquatic Center, extended care, and meals. The program runs from early June until late July. Parents can call the main line or email to secure a spot before they fill up. A family‑friendly event is scheduled for May 9 at the Chambers Park Community Center. Mothers and sons will enjoy a night of dancing, games, free food, and prizes under the theme “Sneaker Masquerade. ” Tickets cost $5 each, and a DJ will play music throughout the evening. The 360° photo booth is an extra highlight for all ages.
