You might know Kirsten Dunst from her latest hit, A24's Civil War. But she's already moved on to her next big thing! She'll be joining Channing Tatum in a unique true crime flick called Roofman. The director, Derek Cianfrance, is at the helm.

So, what's this movie about? It's based on the fascinating story of Jeffrey Manchester, a former U.S. Army Reserve officer who turned into a serial robber. His method? Breaking into McDonald's through the roof, robbing the cash register, and herding staff into freezers. He was known as "Roofman" for his gentle demeanor and rarely using violence.

After getting caught in 2000, Manchester didn't stay locked up for long. He escaped and hid out in a Toys ‘R Us and Circuit City store in North Carolina for months. Living off baby food and exercising on store bikes, he was finally caught thanks to DNA found on a DVD.

In the movie, Dunst plays a struggling Toys ‘R Us employee raising two girls. She has no clue that Manchester has been secretly watching her and is falling for her. When they meet, she finds him charming and endearing, forming a deep bond. But once she discovers the truth, things get complicated.

The script comes from Cianfrance and Kirt Gunn. Producers include Dylan Sellers, Chris Parker, Jamie Patricof, and Lynette Howell Taylor. FilmNation and CAA Media Finance are handling the distribution package, which is already generating interest.

Dunst is no stranger to acclaim. Her performance in Civil War earned stellar reviews and big box office numbers. She's repped by UTA and Entertainment 360.
