Lakers and Clippers: A Tale of Two Games
Los Angeles, USAMonday, March 3, 2025
Gabe Vincent started the game strong, hitting three of his first four shots from range. He brought a high level of defense, which was a welcome addition to the lineup. Vincent's performance shows he can step up when needed.
Luka Dončić had his best non-Denver game, scoring 29 points and looking like himself again. He was knocking down stepback 3-pointers with regularity and picked up the scoring with LeBron having an off night.
Jarred Vanderbilt had one of his best performances since returning from injury. He played 22 minutes, his most this season. He had a sequence where he threw down an alley-oop, raced back for a block on Zubac, and then Luka hit a 3-pointer. This sequence shows the kind of energy and excitement Vanderbilt brings to the game.
Trey Jemison III had a chaotic game, fouling James Harden on a 3-pointer. He is a ball of energy and is still figuring things out in the NBA.
Dalton Knecht had a huge night, knocking down open 3-pointers and creating for himself. He helped close the game with a late clutch 3-pointer and even made a big late defensive stop. Knecht's performance shows he is a valuable player when he is on the court.
Shake Milton had a rough game, finishing with a team-worst -16 in a game the Lakers won by six. JJ Redick had the bench ready to contribute, with Vando, Knecht, Jemison, and Shake combining for 36 points, 16 rebounds, and 14-22 shooting. Redick's leadership was crucial in these games.
The Lakers had several players who did not play, including Alex Len, Markieff Morris, Cam Reddish, Christian Koloko, Jordan Goodwin, Rui Hachimura, Austin Reaves, Maxi Kleber, and Bronny James. These players will be key to the Lakers' success as the season continues.
