Laughs and Longevity: Olivia Wilde's Comedy Hits Sundance

Olivia Wilde's new film, The Invite, has made quite the splash at Sundance. It's not every day that a comedy gets a standing ovation at this festival, but this one did.

The film revolves around two couples living in the same apartment complex:

• Edward Norton and Penelope Cruz play a couple who are all about openness and progress.
• Seth Rogen and Wilde herself play a couple stuck in a rut.

The film is all about the laughs and the struggles of middle age.

Behind the Scenes

Wilde didn't work alone on this one. She teamed up with Rashida Jones and Wil McCormack to workshop the screenplay. It's actually a remake of a Spanish film called The People Upstairs. Wilde shared that they put a lot of personal touches into the script. The cast brought a lot of energy to the set every day.

Filming Process

The film was shot in order, which is a big deal. It's not something that happens often, but it allowed for a lot of creativity to flow. Wilde mentioned that it was a luxury to be able to generate ideas as they went along.
