Lebanon's Health Challenge: Vaccines and the Private Sector

In Lebanon, the threat of measles isn't something new or unexpected. This disease is a common and long-standing issue in the country, despite being entirely preventable with vaccines. So, why are vaccination rates so low? One significant barrier is the lack of engagement from the private health sector. This sector plays a crucial role in health services, but it's often not involved in vaccine campaigns. Universal Health Coverage aims to ensure everyone has access to healthcare, including vaccines.

But for this to work, all parts of the health system, including the private sector, need to be on board. It's not just about having the right vaccines; it's about making sure they reach everyone who needs them. This isn't just a problem in Lebanon; many countries face similar challenges. It's about time we start thinking critically about how to involve the private sector in these vital health efforts.
