LeBron and Leaf Rally Behind Young Amidst Panthers' Benchings

Bryce Young, the 2023 NFL draft's first overall pick, has been benched by the Panthers after a dismal 0-2 start. Despite the criticism, he's receiving support from some unexpected quarters. LeBron James, the Lakers' star, took to social media to encourage Young to stay positive. "Hold your head up, Young!" James wrote. "It's not all on you! Keep working hard, and success will come!" Meanwhile, former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf, who was the second overall pick in the 1998 draft, believes the Panthers are equally to blame for Young's struggles. Leaf told TMZ, "They screwed this up from the beginning. This organization is terrible!" He pointed out that the team has done little to help Young develop, citing the high expectations placed on the young quarterback. Leaf knows firsthand the feeling of disappointment and isolation that comes with being benched. "No one believes in him, and no one has his back," he said. "I know what that feels like. Football can be toxic when you're used to being the star and everyone loves you."
