Lizzo and Harris Bring Energy to Detroit Voting Kickoff

In Detroit, Vice President Kamala Harris and famous singer Lizzo teamed up to boost early voting. They were in Lizzo's hometown, praising the city known for its auto and music industries. It's not just Coney Dogs and Faygo soda that Detroit is famous for — it's also Lizzo! She joked about this, saying it's time to show some respect to Detroit. Harris, on the other hand, talked about the city's grit, excellence, and history. This came after former President Trump criticized Detroit at a recent campaign rally. Over a million Michigan residents have already voted by mail. Harris thinks Detroit's early voting turnout will be strong. She even wore a "Detroit vs. Everybody" T-shirt under her blazer to show her support. She didn't use a teleprompter and moved around the stage freely. Harris also slammed Trump, saying anyone unsure about how to vote should just watch his rallies.

Lizzo, known for her song "Truth Hurts, " said it's about time America has its first woman president. Both Harris and Lizzo talked about how every vote counts in Michigan, a key swing state. The Republican National Committee criticized Harris, saying she needs Lizzo's help to cover up how well people felt under Trump's presidency. But Talona Johnson, who attended the rally, believes Harris is telling the truth. She's voting for Harris and sees women's rights as her top concern. Harris also addressed the Biden administration's support for Israel in the war with Hamas. She said Middle East policy isn't easy, but that's no reason to give up. Later, Harris will join another popular singer, Usher, in Atlanta to keep up the momentum for early voting.
