All About Local Life

A new magazine is coming to Livingston Parish, and it's all about local life. The brainchild of a mother and daughter team, this publication aims to fill a gap in the community.

Living In Parish

The magazine, called "Living In Parish," will hit stores in spring 2026, with an online version launching on New Year's Day. It will feature a mix of parish news, small business spotlights, recipes, and even a section for parish pets.

The Idea

The idea for the magazine has been brewing for years. The duo behind it noticed a lack of local lifestyle media and decided to do something about it. They started sharing content online in November, and the response was overwhelming. The plan was initially to go online for a year, but the quick influx of followers changed their minds. Now, they're aiming to print 10,000 copies for the April edition.

Sections and Partnerships

The magazine will have several sections, including food and pets. The team hopes to partner with local nonprofits to sponsor each section. They also want to collaborate with area schools that have media programs, giving students a chance to have their work published.

The Team

This project is a family affair. The mother, Ashleigh David-Vasquez, comes from a family of newspaper publishers. Her father and grandfather both published the Livingston Parish News for decades. She has also worked at multiple Louisiana news outlets. The daughter, Elizabeth Baudoin, brings her marketing expertise to the table, gained from her studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

The Vision

The team sees this magazine as a positive resource for the community. They want it to be something people can turn to for local news and information. It's not just about filling a gap; it's about creating something meaningful for the parish.
