Malaysia is planning some big changes to how it spends its money. The government has been giving out lots of subsidies, like helping with fuel, water, and even chicken prices. But this is costing them a lot, and they want to change that. So, next year, they'll start adjusting who gets these subsidies. For example, they'll stop giving out free gasoline to people who don't really need it. This will save them around 8 billion ringgit a year. They'll also make people who earn more pay more for things like boarding schools and healthcare. The goal is to fix their budget problem and make the economy stronger. But this might upset some people who are already struggling with high living costs. The prime minister, Anwar Ibrahim, says the economy should get much better next year, growing up to 5.5%. He wants to spend more on education, healthcare, and security. To get more money for the government, they'll also increase some taxes and raise the minimum wage by 13%. Anwar has been leading these changes since he took office in 2022.
