McG, renowned for reviving Charlie's Angels on the big screen, is making a splash in television once again. This time, he's steering the Baywatch reboot, set to premiere on Fox during the 2026-27 season.

McG isn't just directing the pilot episode; he's also serving as executive producer, infusing his creative vision through his company, Wonderland Sound and Vision.

A Familiar Dance with Fox

This isn't McG's first foray into Fox. Back in 2002, he co-created, executive produced, and directed the pilot for Fastlane. He also contributed to other Fox hits like The O.C. and the Lethal Weapon series reboot.

Teaming up with Matt Nix, who's leading this Baywatch reboot, isn't new for McG. The duo previously collaborated on Turner & Hooch for Disney+ and True Lies for CBS.

A Modern Twist on a Classic

The Baywatch reboot aims to recapture the thrilling rescues, dramatic relationships, and beachside action that made the original a cultural phenomenon. This time, it's getting a modern update—featuring a new cast, fresh challenges, and an innovative mission to safeguard Southern California's coastlines.

Production is set to begin in March, with filming taking place on Venice Beach and the Fox Studio Lot in Century City, thanks to a $21.1 million California tax credit.

Behind the Scenes

The reboot is a collaborative effort, produced by Fremantle and Fox Entertainment. Alongside Nix and McG, a team of executives is steering the project. Fox Entertainment Global will handle domestic distribution, while Fremantle manages international sales.

McG's Busy Slate

McG has several other projects in the works. His company is producing Clashing Through The Snow for Amazon MGM Studios, starring Christopher Briney and Michelle Randolph, set to begin production in February. They've also wrapped the McG-directed Chris Pratt film Way Of The Warrior Kid for Skydance/Apple, as well as Season 2 of Average Joe for Paramount+.

On top of all that, McG recently acquired the historic Henson Studios lot in Hollywood, now known as Chaplin Studios, alongside John Mayer.
