Measles Alert in Washington State

The visits happened between April 30 and May 3. The traveler went to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and multiple locations in Renton, Bellevue, Seattle, Everett, and Woodinville. The virus can spread before any rash shows up. It can also stay in the air for up to two hours after an infected person leaves the area. Health officials are concerned. They warn that measles is making a comeback. There have been five cases in Washington State this year. Two of these cases were from non-residents. Nationally, over 1, 000 cases have been reported so far in 2025. This year is on track to have the highest number of measles cases in the U. S. since the early 1990s. The traveler visited many places. These include Bellevue Market Place, Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery, Home Depot in Redmond, Dunn Lumber in Renton, Genki Sushi in Renton, Topgolf Renton Sport Bar and Restaurant, Pho Mignon in Kirkland, Kobo at HIGO Art Gallery, Uwajimaya Seattle Asian Market, Stoup Brewing, Spicy Style of Sichuan, and a hotel. The traveler also went to three fitness centers.

Officials urge people who were in these locations to check their vaccination status. If they are not vaccinated, they should get the shot.
