A measles alert has been issued in North Carolina after a person with the disease visited public places.
Locations and Times of Exposure
- Constantine's Restaurant in Gastonia after 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 26, 2025
- Christmas Town USA in McAdenville from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the same day
The good news is that the person did not go inside any buildings, so the chance of spreading measles to others is low.
About Measles
Measles is a serious respiratory illness that spreads easily when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported 2,065 measles cases across 44 states so far this year.
Symptoms to Watch For
- Very high fever, sometimes over 104 degrees
- Cough and runny nose
- Red, watery eyes (conjunctivitis)
- Small white spots inside the mouth (Koplik Spots), appearing a few days after the first symptoms
- Red, raised rash that starts on the face and spreads to the rest of the body a few days later
