Measles Mayhem: RFK Jr. 's Unconventional Approach to Health
Texas, USAFriday, March 7, 2025
The reason measles outbreaks are not common is simple: vaccines work. They have been proven to be effective in preventing the spread of the disease. However, Kennedy Jr. has been pushing alternative medicine rather than vaccination. He has touted the MMR vaccine but also praised the effects of vitamin A, claiming it can "dramatically reduce measles mortality. " Experts have pushed back, stating that vitamin A is not a substitute for vaccination.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass. ) wrote a letter to Kennedy Jr. , questioning his stance on vaccination. She pointed out that he had not included a strong call for vaccinations in his op-ed. She asked him if he believed good nutrition was a better defense against measles than the MMR vaccine. Kennedy Jr. responded by promoting vaccination but also touted various treatments, including vitamin A, steroids, antibiotics, and cod liver oil. Experts have criticized this approach, stating that these treatments are not effective against measles.
Unfortunately, as long as Kennedy Jr. is leading the nation's health services, quack treatments are what's in order. This is a concerning situation for the people in West Texas and for the rest of America.
